Atyoidea Bresilioidea Campylonotoidea Crangonoidea Galatheacaridoidea Nematocarcinoidea Oplophoroidea Palaemonoidea Pandaloidea Pasiphaeoidea Procaridoidea Processoidea Psalidopodoidea Stylodactyloidea True shrimp are small, swimming, decapod crustaceans classified in the infraorder Caridea, found widely around the world in both fresh and salt water.
The term mussel is used for several families of bivalve mollusks inhabiting lakes, rivers, and creeks, as well as intertidal areas along coastlines worldwide. The freshwater mussels (several allied families, the largest being the Unionidae) and saltwater mussels (family Mytilidae) are not closely related, and are grouped in different subclasses, despite some similarities in appearance. The freshwater Zebra mussels and their relatives (family Dreissenidae) live attached to rocks in a manner similar to marine mussels, but are classified with the Heterodonta, the taxonomic group including most bivalves referred to as "clams".

The flat and transparent larva of the eel is called a leptocephalus. A young eel is called an elver. Most eels prefer to dwell in shallow waters or hide at the bottom layer of the ocean, sometimes in holes. Only the Anguillidae family comes to fresh water to dwell there (not to breed). Some eels dwell in deep water (in case of family Synaphobranchidae, this comes to a depth of 4,000 m), or are active swimmers (the family Nemichthyidae - to the depth of 500 m).

Scallops may be attached to a substrate by a structure called a byssus, or cemented to their substrate (eg. Hinnites spp.). They can also be free living. A scallop can swim by rapidly opening and closing its shell. This method of rapidly opening and closing its shell is also a defense technique, protecting it from any threats. There is a definite whistling sound upon propulsion that the scallops make.

This is a recipe given to me by my sister in law. By using minute rice, small scallops or shrimp, and spicy thinly sliced pepperoni, dinner will be on the table in less than 10 minutes.

This recipe is adapted from minutemeals. It's quick, definitely easy, and flavorful! You don't feel heavy afterwards because it's served over lettuce but it's still filling. Also, I highly recommend Newman's Own Family Recipe Italian dressing for both the recipe and as a dressing on the salad greens

This is a very tasty dish. Make sure you get large shrimp so once they cook they don't cook down to itty bitty bites.

Recipe is originally from the Food Network courtesy of Rachael Ray, but I tweaked it to fit our tastes. Very quick & easy shrimp recipe that's done on the stovetop. If your tastes desire spicy & garlic, then this recipe is just for you.

I have made complicated marinades in the past but shrimp are so delicious they need nothing more than this treatment. Subtle flavors and the shrimp stay juicy. Alter as needed for the amount of shrimp you have.

This can be done as an appetizer before a meal or as a first course. 5 spice powder is usually found in all grocery stores now. Oriental stores would have it and it is good with a number of meats.

This makes a pretty presentation at a cocktail party, and everyone loves it. Definitely best if made with fresh shrimp or crab. For overnight ballgame trips, I often take each layer prepared in separate bags or plastic containers, and assemble the morning before the football games.

Most popular dip at a party we gave yesterday. A friend gave me the recipe years ago, and this is made from memory and help from another Aussie Zaar member Shaz.
